Acne Skin Care

Almost anybody can suffer from acne but the emotional stress and the effect on one’s self-confidence is much more evident on teens who are just entering their puberty stage. Some teens have the misconception that zits can be removed by picking or squeezing the affected are with their bare hands. However, this is just asking for acne to worsen since the bacteria from your hands will cause the infection to increase. Instead of trying to get rid of acne by briskly rubbing on your face, here are some skin care tips that you can follow in order to get rid of acne.

First, if you have the occasional whitehead, blackhead or pimple, use a 2.5% salicylic solution or benzoyl peroxide ointment. This will help dry out the pimple in a matter of hours or days. Prior to this, you should use a mild facial cleanser before applying the acne treatment solution on your face. Next, use a water-based toner and moisturizer after applying the medication. Repeat this skin care regimen until the pimples are completely healed. Once it is, you can do away with the treatment step and just proceed with cleaning, toning and moisturizing your face.

Second, for women or teenagers who are suffering from acne, make sure that the cosmetics that you are using are non-comedogenic. These types of cosmetics will not clog the pores and does not result to the development of blackheads or whiteheads. Finally, if you have a severe case of acne, make sure to consult a dermatologist so that a more effective treatment can be prescribed for you. This will also ensure that once the pimples are healed, there will be no unsightly scarring to add to your skin blemish woes.
